2-18-14 – Bench: A Bit Spoiled, Not Today
Benches and barbells today for me and the Coach. He got started before me and rigged up his contraption of bands and plates on the Elitefts competition bench, the preferred choice of the three bench press stations at HPF for everyone. So I set myself up in one of our power racks with a 0-90 bench. I don’t like change in my routine, as most humans don’t. Today I didn’t complain or really care and quickly remembered that I need to get used to perfecting my set up, arch, foot placement, etc on any bench in any place. So I embraced the differences and found the spot where I needed to sink my shoulders and upper back into the bench. Everything went well today, the bar I was using was a bit bigger, and I think that may have been why the weights all felt a tiny bit heavier than they should have today, being the first week of my new cycle. I’m sure I’ll feel better once I get back on my M-W-F schedule. For this cycle, Coach had me switch several of my accessories across the board. Today was my first time doing seated DB cleans and the first time in YEARS doing DB extensions. Good session today; had fun training with the hubs.
