3-8-14 – Uninterupted Deadlifts
Posted in Danny Flood Training Log
Unlike recent days, my gym time hadn’t been interrupted, stalled, postponed, or delayed at all. Today, I did not have work until 8 p.m. Therefore, I had all day to take my time with my deadlifts. Deadlifts are always my favorite. The weight is where it should be, I don’t feel like I should be going higher, I don’t feel like it’s getting weaker, nothing. I just always feel the same steady progress and lack of worry about my form. In recent weeks, I’ve been attempting to lean less on using a belt to strength my back even more. So for my week 1 DLs, I had 3 working sets of 5 reps each beginning with an easy 210. On my second working set, I allowed for the weight to settle before lifting each rep. But, nevertheless, the weight still didn’t feel real heavy and finished it for an easy 5 reps. As for my last working set, I was quite skeptical about not using a belt. This is most likely the highest I have gone for reps without a belt. I had to pull 270 for 5 reps. I asked Jesse if he was going to use a belt for his last working set and of course, he said no so I was forced to do the same. I was skeptical for no reason, after my last working set I felt great. No discomfort in my lower back, everything felt fine, and the weight still was relatively easy. As for the rest of my workout, Jesse and I went heavy on many accessories and finished with our usual extended ab regimen.
