4-4-14 – Deadlifting Mindset
Deadlifts on a Friday morning is something I am always looking forward to mainly because it is my favorite lift. I love the intensity, and I love emotion that goes into it. Today was the first deadlift day of the new cycle. Today was different though, today I felt way more mentally focused and ready to lift whatever weight I had in front of me. Nothing could hold me back. My first set was 275 for 5 which felt really easy and fast. I’ve been working on speed, and also having an explosive lockout. My next set of 315 was fairly easy, and the last two reps were the only ones that I felt were the slowest. This was also a set of 5. My last set was 350 for 5, and I was ready to get after it. This was the hardest set and definitely to me was the slowest set. The first two came up fast, and the last 3 felt like eternity to get up. I maintained good technique throughout the entire set staying tight and pulling back.
