12-10-13 – Squats

Today was an early morning session. It feels great being able to come in the morning and have the whole place to myself. It gives me time to reflect and count my blessings. I just laid in the middle of the floor in the gym and just thought about the hard work it took to get where we are today. The song “Successful” by Drake came on the stereo as I laid there. This was the song that I would put on repeat when my wife Gina and I would stay up for days at a time working on the beginning stages of HPF. Success means something different to everybody but I feel we are on our way to my vision of success. Helping our community, getting people strong(er), having a facility where people want to go to escape to do something great and changing lives for the better all while providing for my wife and family on a consistent basis is a slight insight of my vision of success. It has been a crazy road from the day of our grand opening. We have been through a lot, learned a lot of lessons and getting strong(er) as time goes on. I am thankful for everyone who has came through these doors and helped establish what we have.

With that being said, I had a great session today. Everything felt on. I was able to remain tight throughout the sets. The bar felt like it has been moving as fast as it has in awhile. Keeping my shoulder blades squeezed tight together, my neck driven back into the bar, tight grip around the bar, pressure against my belt all came together while under the bar. I had time to finish all my accessories so I was spent by the end of the session. Great day today. I love early morning sessions!
