12-7-13 – Bacon & Deadlifts

There are only two reasons why a teenager should be waking up early on a Saturday and they are 1. Bacon and 2. Dead lifts and today I woke up for both. I had been thinking about this 300 lb dead lift all week so I walked into the gym feeling pretty confident. I had all the motivation I could ask for with two of my training partners, Mike, and two other members there to support me. My warm ups went good and everything felt good. The working sets felt heavy but I did my best to keep that out of mind and focus on my goal for today. My first rep for the 300 felt hard but I found a good rhythm and was able to stay with it for 13 reps. After today all I can say is never underestimate the importance of a training partner. They can be the difference between you doing ok or you going beyond what you think you can do. When you are on what your mind and body say is your last rep and you have a familiar voice screaming in your ear “one more!” It forces everything else out of mind and you hit that one more! (Special thanks to Danny and Chris for being the voice of encouragement today.)
