10-24-13 – Deadlift
Another day of Dreadlifts in the books. I refer to deadlifts as dreadlifts because I dread doing them. We have a love/hate relationship with each other. I always walk up to the platform like the bar is a bully whose ass I have to kick. It’s hard, unforgiving but with the right mindset the job will get done.
The dreadlifts felt heavier than they should have. I kept the bar closer to my shins while coming up. This has been a problem of mine lately since I switched my stance to conventional. My lock out felt strong but my back was getting really tight on my last set.
The tightness of my lower back affected my sumo stiff leg deadlifts. I usually do them without a belt but it just was not happening today. Just having the belt on didn’t help me get the weight up. It was the pressure I used to push against my belt that helped keep me stable that helped the weight get up. Overall it was a day that had to get done. Now I can get on with my day with the hardest part already over.
